PARKOUR PROGRAMS FOR MOVEMENT LONGEVITY AND INJURY PREVENTION
ROAMFurther Athletics’ training programs instruct the fundamentals of Parkour to improve movement and enhance the quality of day-to-day life activities. Parkour is a discipline emphasizing movement efficiency and proprioception. It benefits functional movement, spatial awareness, and overall movement health.
ROAM’s Emergency Services training programs introduce participants to ability-appropriate obstacle-based challenges and provides them with the practical skills—both physical and psychological—to overcome them. We articulate the aspects of Parkour that have to do with situational awareness, spatial awareness, risk assessment, and risk responsibility.
Our goal is to improve a participant’s ability to safely and confidently navigate complex environmental situations as well as react with stronger skill-informed self-preservation in unexpected circumstances like an unanticipated fall.
Prevent injury both in the professional field and in day-to-day life. Through practice, repetition, and subsequent acquisition of muscle memory of Parkour skill-sets, improving the ability to assess and navigate physical risks in an environment as well as react to unexpected situations.
Proprioception is sight even in the absence of vision. Your sense of self relative to the space around you. A deeper connection to your environment and how you can best interact and navigate it.
More capability and less injury transitions naturally to a higher quality of general life. Increased scope of access to the world relative to newly learned and repeated Parkour skills and philosophies.
Instructors overview expectations, set training objectives, and discuss intentions for the program.
Participants will be provided a series of low-impact, low-intensity Parkour skills as both an introduction to the discipline and to prepare them for the evolution of the day’s training.
Transitioning from the warm-up, participants will be instructed on the fundamental principles guiding the movements of Parkour.
Training will center around learning functional movements and how to apply them to a variety of complex situations.
Open conversations ‘in the midst’ of physical activity that reflect on the current teaching and how to adapt them in professional, risk-intense situations, and in average day-to-day life scenarios.
