FIRST RESPONDERS & EMERGENCY SERVICES

Move with greater awareness, reduce injury risk, and build lasting physical capability on the job and in everyday life.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

FUNDAMENTALS

ROAMFurther Athletics’ training programs teach the fundamentals of Parkour to improve movement quality both in training and in everyday life. Parkour emphasizes movement efficiency, proprioception, and spatial awareness, helping athletes develop stronger functional movement, body awareness, and long-term movement health.

PRACTICAL SKILLS

ROAM’s Emergency Services training programs introduce participants to ability-appropriate, obstacle-based challenges that develop the practical skills needed to navigate demanding environments with greater confidence and control.

Training emphasizes the Parkour principles most relevant to real-world response, including situational awareness, spatial awareness, risk assessment, movement adaptability, and personal responsibility in managing risk.

PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL BENEFITS

IMPROVED REACTION

Our goal is to improve each participant’s ability to safely and confidently navigate complex environments while developing stronger, skill-informed responses to unexpected situations.

Training also builds practical self-preservation skills, helping participants react more effectively to sudden loss of balance, trips, slips, and unanticipated falls.

INJURY PREVENTION & REDUCTION

Our training is designed to help reduce injury risk both in the field and in everyday life. Through practice, repetition, and the development of muscle memory, participants build Parkour-based movement skills that improve their ability to assess physical risks, navigate challenging environments, and respond more effectively to unexpected situations.

ENHANCED PROPRIOCETION

Proprioception is your body’s sense of position and movement, even without relying on vision. It helps you understand where you are in space, how your body relates to the environment around you, and how to move through that environment with greater control, awareness, and confidence.

HIGHER QUALITY OF LIFE

Greater physical capability and reduced injury risk naturally support a higher quality of everyday life. As participants develop and repeat Parkour skills, they expand what they feel capable of doing, where they can move confidently, and how effectively they can interact with the world around them.

EVENT STRUCTURE

TRAINING ORIENTATION

Instructors review expectations, establish training objectives, and clarify the purpose and goals of the program before training begins.

PRINCIPLES OF PARKOUR

Participants begin with a series of low-impact, low-intensity Parkour movements designed to introduce the discipline while preparing the body for the progression of the day’s training.

From there, instructors introduce the fundamental principles that guide Parkour movement, building a foundation for the skills and challenges that follow.

SKILL BREAKDOWNS

Training centers on developing functional movement skills and learning how to apply them effectively across a variety of complex and changing environments.

PRACTICAL SKILL EXAMPLES

  • Obstacle Navigation: Safely and efficiently traverse obstacles both vertically and laterally, including controlled ascending and descending movement.

  • Landing & Impact Management: Develop proper landing techniques that help distribute force and reduce impact, including both rolling and non-rolling methods.

  • Atypical Space Navigation: Learn to move confidently through narrow, low, or unconventional spaces, including smooth, low-to-the-ground movement using quadrupedal locomotion.

DISCUSSION 'IN MEDIA RES'

Throughout training, instructors lead open, in-the-moment discussions that connect each movement or challenge to its practical application. Participants are encouraged to consider how these skills can be adapted to professional, higher-risk environments as well as everyday situations.

REFLECTION & CONSIDERATION

A group reflection in ROAM’s event space focusing on:

  • Practical Application: Discuss how Parkour principles and movement skills can support the physical demands of Emergency Services work.

  • Profession-Specific Needs: Build a shared understanding of the movement challenges faced in Emergency Services and identify how Parkour training can help address them.

  • Movement Beyond the Job: Reinforce the value of movement quality, awareness, and physical capability both in professional environments and in everyday life.

What an incredible place with an incredible team. RoamFurther is a bright, welcoming space, that encourages the teaching and positive energy that is parkour and ninja. My wife and I brought our 2 year old for a class, and it was so cool watch them explore all the obstacles. 10/10 recommend!!

Extra surprise with the Coffee Bar. Best in Mount Kisco by a mile. Best Cappuccino I’ve had in a long time.

We hosted my stepdaughters birthday party here and so can’t stress enough how amazing the experience was. I coordinated with Jonathan, who was amazing and communicated and organized the details wonderfully. The kids had so much fun and the Instructors Tom and Sam were so great with them, and engaged the group together during solo activities. Also I have to say this space is SPOTLESS. They had a coffee bar that’s available during the party if you want and it was honestly such a nice touch for the adults. Everyone was complimenting how good the coffee was. There’s also a little “bar top” section where the adults can watch the kids play. I definitely feel the cost is reflective of the amazing experience, worth every penny.
Great spot! I bring the kids I babysit here, they signed up months ago and they looove it. Welcoming and friendly staff, seating area for parents and the best coffee in town. Definitely worth it!

Very delicious coffee. Fantastic staff, very informative, and welcome any questions you might have. They also provide space for parkor workouts. Located inside the Grand Prix and arcade in Mount Kisco. Cash and credit are both accepted. 10/2023

We love ROAM - the owners and coaches are so good with our 4 and 2 year old active sons. They are gentle but disciplined so I don't worry about injuries, and my kids look forward to going to their class every single week. It's truly a fantastic experience for parents and children and I highly recommend checking it out.

I've been coming here for adult parkour classes for about a year now. This place is fantastic on all counts. Everyone I've interacted with here has been warm and welcoming. Instructors are fantastic about adapting to what you are capable of and helping you improve. The space itself is expansive and well constructed with no shortage of spaces to train specific movements or create lines to run. The coffee is also lovely, I've had a few after morning classes.

This is my son’s favorite place! I’ve watched his confidence grow as he learns these wonderful skills. He has faced challenges and fears with the help of the amazing coaches here. Every single person that works at Roam is so friendly, genuine and really caring. Plus the coffee bar is truly the best in town!

As someone who grew up on Assassin’s Creed, I always wanted to learn parkour but I always felt weird starting parkour as an adult. Turns out the parkour community is amazing and welcoming.

Joe and Zach are leaders in the parkour community, and they often have famous parkour athletes visit the gym, or get invited to parkour events in NYC, or will let a fellow athlete film a profesh video using their space. You’re getting fitness training, but you’re also joining a community here.

Highly recommend the adult program for anyone in my situation; an adult whose always wanted to try parkour? This is your spot.

Shoutout to my fellow female athletes!
I’ve always felt welcomed here.

Also, obligatory sentence about coffee ♥️☕️. Is good! (Thanks Nick!)
