9 Months - 3 Years
Little Roamers & Me classes at ROAMFurther Athletics in Mt. Kisco, NY offer a movement-focused take on traditional Mommy & Me classes. Designed for toddlers ages 9 months to 3 years, classes center on coach-supervised exploration that supports spatial awareness, early motor skills, and important movement milestones.
In ROAM’s take on the traditional open-play Mommy & Me format, little ones explore obstacle-based stations designed through a Parkour-focused approach to early movement development, alongside their caregiver and under the guidance of a supervising instructor.
Parkour is a movement discipline that develops kinesthetic and proprioceptive awareness. Kinesthesia is our sense of movement, while proprioception is our awareness of where our bodies are in relation to the space around us.
Foundational Parkour movements like jumping, climbing, and balancing help strengthen these senses along with the motor skills, coordination, and body awareness connected to them.
The supervising coach provides guidance around movement skills, developmental expectations, and age-appropriate motor milestones, helping caregivers better understand and support their child’s physical development.
Our Little Roamers & Me classes build on children’s natural curiosity for movement and exploration through the foundations of Parkour. Through guided play and obstacle-based movement, little ones learn to move in increasingly dynamic, coordinated, and confident ways.
Little Roamers & Me classes are a collaborative experience between coach, athlete, and caregiver.
Throughout class, instructors help caregivers understand how each skill, obstacle, and challenge connects to their Little Roamer’s movement development, body awareness, and growing physical abilities.
ROAM instructors are active Parkour athletes, meaning they practice the movements and principles they teach.
Young children learn largely through watching and mimicking others, so Little Roamers & Me classes rely less on verbal explanation and more on clear movement modeling. Coaches intentionally demonstrate the movements most relevant to each age and stage of development.
Whether introducing a specific skill or simply moving through the gym, coaches remain mindful of how their movement is seen, interpreted, and imitated by each athlete.
The explorative nature of our Little Roamers & Me classes allows athletes to move in ways that reflect how they naturally explore the world outside the gym.
As they navigate the space, coaches observe the choices they make, offer guidance when needed, and encourage the development of important movement milestones.
The result is movement that feels practical and transferable: what they learn at ROAM is movement they can use in everyday life.
Community is at the heart of ROAM, which means building meaningful relationships both with families and between them.
Little Roamers & Me classes offer a unique opportunity to bond through movement. The interaction between coach, athlete, and caregiver creates a setting of shared exploration and cooperative learning.
As your child develops greater movement confidence, spatial awareness, and early risk assessment, you’ll also build greater confidence in their growing physical capabilities and independence.
