Little Roamers & Me classes at ROAMFurther Athletics in Mt. Kisco, NY focus on coach-supervised exploration and development of spatial awareness, initial motor skills, and movement milestones. Your little ones navigate obstacle-based stations designed with a Parkour focused perspective, attended by their caregiver and the supervising instructor.
Our Little Roamer & Me classes focus on refining and reinforcing children’s natural curiosity for movement and exploration through the foundations of Parkour.
Kinesthesia is our sense of self-motion, proprioception our sense of self relative to the space around us. Jumping, climbing, balancing–the root movements of Parkour–enhance these senses and the motor skills associated with them.
Little Roamer & Me classes are a collective effort between coach, student, and caregiver. Students roam through pre-designed areas with their caregiver, while the class coach offers guidance and advice about what skills and motor milestones can be learned & reinforced at each area.
The instructor’s communication with parents/caregivers focuses on how the skills, setup, and challenges relate to their Little Roamer’s own movement development and physical awareness.
The explorative nature of our Little Roamer & Me classes allows our students to move as they would outside.
We watch the decisions they make on how to move through the space, correcting movement, and encouraging the growth of certain milestones as they do.
This means the movement they learn here is the movement they’ll use outside.
Community is at the heart of ROAM. For us that means developing and deepening relationships both with students and families, and between them.
Little Roamer & Me classes are an opportunity to bond with your littlest in a unique way. The interaction of instructor, student, and caregiver creates a setting of cooperative learning.
You’ll see their self-confidence with movement, spatial–awareness, and risk assessment grow, and find your own confidence in their capabilities growing alongside.
